Religious leaders offered prayers for the success of the Super Eagles

Chief Imam of Lagos Alhaji Garba Akinyola Ibraheem and Pastor Hezekiah Nwankwo, a representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) offered prayers for the success of the Super Eagles in Lagos yesterday.
The Chief Imam in his prayers begged Allah to ward off injuries from the camp of the Eagles and crown their efforts with glory.
The CAN representative on the other hand, while recalling how God blessed Nigeria at the FIFA Under-17 tourney in Korea last year, called on the players to avoid selfishness if they are to be in fray for the diadem in Ghana.
Interestingly, apart from the prayers, Governor Babatunde Fashola hinted of plans by most of the state governors to storm Ghana to cheer the Eagles to victory.
"At our last Governors' Forum last Monday, most of my colleagues expressed their willingness to be in Ghana to cheer the Super Eagles to victory," stressed Fashola.
The Lagos governor, however, said that their presence would not put undue pressure on the team.
"I played the game, I do not want to put you under pressure but by the grace of God you (Eagles) shall win the cup."
