Charlton’s 18-year-old defender Joe Gomez is expected to seal a move to Liverpool by Friday.
Gomez was also the subject of interest from Arsenal and Manchester City, but Liverpool appear to have beaten off the competition.
German giants Borussia Dortmund looked at a deal too but Gomez has decided to stay in England.

The teenage centre back is one of the most sought-after young talents in the country after a breakthrough season at The Valley.
He played 21 times in the Championship having made his debut aged 17. Gomez has represented England at Under 16, U17 and U19 levels and can also play at right back.
