Supersport International has come to the rescue of the Gaborone Golf Club Match Play Competition with a P30 000 sponsorship.
Multi Choice Botswana General Manager, Billy Sekgororoane, announced the sponsorship at a short ceremony at the Gaborone Golf Course last Friday.Speaking to reporters at the launch, Sekgororoane said the competition, which will involve 102 male and female players, will be played once a month, starting next month and with the finals slated for September.
Commenting on the prize breakdown, the Multi Choice Chief said: "Golf rules do not allow amateur players to win cash prizes which means we will give the prizes in kind. There will be prizes for winners of each round , which means that the winners of the competition will have won several prizes by the time they get the grand prize. One other thing is the prizes will be treated as surprises and will only be announced the day they are won."
Meanwhile, the Botswana Golf Union President, Derrick Musa, thanked Supersport for their gesture. Speaking to Voice Sport, a delighted Musa said: "We have never had a sponsor for this competition and this sponsorship will give players something to play for. We are grateful to Supersport for what they are doing for golf."
