Liverpool are looking to hijack Chelsea’s expected deal for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, who spent a year on loan at Manchester United, according to reports from the Daily Star.
Falcao has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks, with Blues manager Jose Mourinho evening revealing that he can get the best out of the Red Devils flop.
He said: “If I can help Falcao reach his level again, I will do it.
“It hurts me that people in England think that the real Falcao is the one we saw at Manchester United.”
However, the Reds are now also extremely keen on the Colombia international, as Kop boss Brendan Rodgers attempts to give his side some attacking power.
The Merseyside club have struggled to find a consistent source of goals ever since Luis Suarez’s departure to Barcelona last summer, with Daniel Sturridge also missing much of the previous campaign with injury.
Rodgers will hope that Falcao can improve compared to his horrid season with United, in which the 29-year-old scored just four league goals.
This resulted in Man United turning down the opportunity to sign the former Porto hitman on a permanent basis, opening the doors for Chelsea and Liverpool to make an approach.
