According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are set to offer £28.7m for Borussia Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon international has been linked with moves away from Germany this summer and it appears that Arsene Wenger is keen to make it happen.
Dortmund are primed for an exodus this summer after the departure of fan favorite manager, Jurgen Klopp. The likes of Gundogan, Aubameyang, Ginter, Immobile have all been linked with moves away from Borussia.
Aubameyang has attracted a lot of interest from Premier League clubs, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool ready to splash the cash on him. The former Milan player has scored 25 goals in all competitions this season.
Arsene Wenger is keen to address his striking problems this season and had identifiedPorto’s Jackson Martinez as the perfect solution. However, it is believed that the Colombian is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid.
Having lost out on his prime target, Wenger is keen to avoid competition for Aubameyang and wants to wrap up the deal swiftly. The London outfit are ready to offer a sum of £28.7m in order to get their man.
Dortmund have maintained their desire to keep hold of their star players this summer, but the German outfit are willing sellers for the right price.
Aubameyang has three years left on his current deal, which allows the Germans to name their price. However, it is believed that an offer close to the 30 million mark might be enough to convince Dortmund.
Arsenal have been crying out for a reliable goalscorer since the departure of Robin Van Persie and Aubameyang could be the perfect candidate.
The Dortmund man averages about 20 goals a season for the last four seasons and aside of his goalscoring ability, Aubameyang contributes a lot on and off the ball. His pace, instinctive movement, agility and link up play will fit right in at Arsenal.
Along with the likes of Sanchez, Walcott, Ozil etc, Aubameyang could very well form one of the best attacking units in the country.
While his goalscoring record isn’t exceptional, Aubameyang is 25 and will continue to improve. Especially under the tutelage of Wenger and playing alongside the likes of Sanchez and Ozil.
All in all, Aubameyang would be an outstanding piece of business for Arsenal regardless of the 30 million price tag and could very well transform them into genuine title contenders
