Contract rebel Raheem Sterling was booed by Liverpool fans at their end-of-season award ceremony, less than 24 hours after reports emerged suggesting he will ask to leave the club.
The 20-year-old has two years left on his current Reds deal but rejected a reported £100,000-a-week offer earlier this year and negotiations were put on hold until the end of the season.
However, it was claimed on Monday night that he will definitely not be signing another deal, with some newspapers suggesting the forward feels ‘bullied’ by the club.
In a statement to talkSPORT, Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward played down the reports, but that didn’t stop the Anfield faithful from displaying their disappointment with the young star.
There were some shouts of 'Stay Raheem' as he made a short acceptance speech but as he finished speaking and left the stage there were audible boos from some of the 3,000 fans assembled at the rear of the Echo Arena Liverpool.
When his name was mentioned in a video montage moments later there were more jeers.
Sterling has been regualrrly linked with Premier League rivals Manchester City and Arsenal, but on Tuesday reports from Germany claimed Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also interested in the England starlet.
Other winners on the night included Philippe Coutinho [Player of the Year, First Team Players’ Player of the Year and Goal of the Season], Gerrard [Outstanding Achievement] and 22-year-old Joao Teixeira [Academy Players’ Player of the Year].
