Oyo Donated Trophy To Promote Tella U-17 football

The Oyo State government has boosted the proposed Tella U-17 football tourney with a giant trophy donated to the organising committee of the competition.
Commissioner for Sports in the state, Joe Makanjuola told sportswriters that the donation, which he described as the first instalment, was the government’s own way of immortalising the fallen World Cup winning coach.
The commissioner noted that the government is fashioning a sports meet that will put the deceased coach’s name permanently in the minds of Nigerians.
While presenting the trophy to the members of Nigerian Coaches Association (NCA), Oyo State chapter who are organisers of the tournament, in his office, Makanjuola said nothing is too big or too much to do in the spirit of immortalising the name of the late U-17 World Cup winning coach by Oyo State.
His words: “Late Coach Adeyemi Tella is our own and I’m happy to personally donate this in his honour. And I’m pledging the support of the state government for the event, we will partner with the organiser to give the coach a befitting tournament.”
Similarly, Tella’s home council, Afijio Local Government has also promised to be the major sponsor of the soccer championship to be competed for among the 33 local councils in the state.
The chairman of the organising committee, Coach Niyi Akande quoting the council boss, Abiodun Adeleye disclosed that the council would foot the financial bill of the tournament.

Akande stated that the council boss described the late Tella as a true son of the council and having brought honour to the nation with the U-17 World Cup, the council would want to take part in the tournament through the sponsorship.
“The Afijio council boss has pledged to shoulder the major finances of the soccer tourney as the late coach is their true son and this is a way the community can appreciate the good work the late soccer coaching hero did in his life time,” Akande told sportwriters
