Amokachi Wants Keshi To Suceed Vogt

Former Super Eagles skipper, Daniel Amokachi has stated that he is shocked that Stephen Keshi is close to putting pen to paper for Mali, saying the former Hawks of Togo gaffer would have been the best man for the Nigerian job.
He, however, noted in a chat with brilafm.net that since the West African country’s sports ministry is dragging foot on a deal for The Big Boss, the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) should still try to persuade the former Eagles skipper not to turn his back on Nigeria.
The Enyimba International coach also said that there should be no sentiment in the task of hiring a new manager for the Eagles, stressing that he would have loved to work as Keshi’s assistant, because the former Anderlecht of Belgium Libero is head and shoulder above the other candidates.
“Keshi is for me the right choice for the Eagles. He is the only one I will put my money on to do a good job, and I believe the NFA should try and see how they can still get him to agree to coach the Eagles, concludes the former power forward.
Meanwhile, former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu has charged Nigeria Football Association to conclude the severance of relationship with Berti Vogts before naming a substantive coach for the senior national team.
The former Green Eagles skipper declared that Nigerians would just have to exercise some patience, so that all ties with the German tactician are sorted out before a new coach is appointed.
“This is something I believe should not be rushed, otherwise we will just end up making the same mistake as we had with Vogts.
“I will just call on the NFA to ensure they wrap up everything about Berti Vogts, so that they can then concentrate of appointing a new coach for the team,” Chairman Chukwu admonished.
The former Harambe Stars of Kenya technical adviser, however, faulted the FA’s procedure of hiring a new coach, stating that the Glasshouse ought to have made a choice and contact the person, not going out for an all comer’s arrangement.
“They must now put their acts together and expedite action on the matter. The 2010 World Cup qualifier is around the corner, and delay could be dangerous,” he stressed.
