United to swap Di Maria for Bayern duo?

Angel Di Maria could be the key element in the deal to bring Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United, according to reports in Germany.
Over the last couple of weeks, rumours linking the 2014 World Cup winner with a move to Old Trafford have intensified, given Schweinsteiger has only 12 months left on his contract and Louis Van Gaal looks to bolster his options in midfield.
Di Maria, meanwhile, has been on Bayern Munich’s target for a couple of months, with the German giants reportedly keen to offer the Argentine a way out of Manchester after a disappointing first season in the Premier League.
Bayern are looking to replace Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, who have both been hamstrung by injuries last season, although the Bavarian club has made clear they could not afford to pay Di Maria’s wages on top of what would be a sizeable transfer fee.
However, according to German newspaper Sport Bild, Bayern could include Schweinsteiger in deal for Di Maria to partially bring down the amount of money they would have to shell out for the Argentine.
Even more importantly, Pep Guardiola is understood to be not overly worried by the prospect of losing Schweinsteiger, as it would allow Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez to play a more prominent role next season.
United, however, are not prepared to send Di Maria to the Allianz Arena to get only Schweinsteiger in return and are keen to sign Thomas Muller, a player Van Gaal identified as one of his main targets last summer when Bayern rebuffed United’s bid for the Germany international.
It seems unlikely that United will accept any deal involving only Schweinsteiger if they’re to part ways with Di Maria, but a deal to bring the German midfielder to Manchester, while keeping the Argentine, looks to be slowly moving forward.
