Eagles started on a bright note

The Super Eagles got their Nations Cup preparations to a good start on Wednesday by defeating Sudan 2-0 in a pre-championship friendly match in Malaga.

Despite missing several key players who have been arriving the squad’s camp in trickles, the Eagles proved too strong for the Sudanese.

Duisburg striker, Ishaku Mennaseh, boosted his chances of making the final squad, which is due to be announced on Thursday, by scoring his first Eagles goal in the match.

His strike partner on the night, Getafe’s Ikechukwu Uche, who just recovered from an injury, also made a strong claim for place in the final 23 with a strike of his own.

The match was played in Malaga, Spain, where the Eagles have been preparing for the Nations Cup since January 6.
