Ashanti FC changed training camp

Ashanti FC have shifted their training camp to Bagamoyo ahead of next weeks premiership league final lapse opening match against Young Africans.

Aboubakar Silas, the clubs secretary general, said that a week long training stint will be enough to stage a successful campaign in the tournament.

The opening match is slated for the National Stadium Sunday January 26. Ashanti shocked Yanga by a lone goal during the opening match of the Mainland league on September 22, at Morogoros Jamhuri stadium.

Silas said his team seeks to maintain supremacy over Yanga in the return leg match after hiring David Mwamaja as their new coach.

Simango Aluko and Ramadhani Bomba remain his assistants. The coaches are working to iron out observed discrepancies during their recent build up matches against Simba and Yanga, he said.Mwamaja is focusing on a scoring problem due to blunt strikers upfront, the main weakness to be worked out during the camp training, he said. Ashanti battled to a goalless draw against Simba and lost by two goals to nil against Yanga in trial matches last week in Dar es Salaam.

We played well in the two matches but scoring proved to be difficult for our side, the club official noted. Ashant team are stuck in the leagues relegation zone sharing 12 points with Police Dodoma and the 1982 champions Pan African FC.

Mbeya based Prisons FC are leading the pack of the 14 teams with 24 points to their credit, holding a two point gap over Mtibwa Sugar.
