AFCON 2008:Bamfuchile is to take charge of Zambian football team

The 56-year-old was on the coaching staff of Chinese Super League club Changchun Yatai.

He has also worked in Japan and in Bhutan, and in 2006 he was technical advisor to the Mozambique Football Federation.

The NFA says that Ben Bamfuchile will remain in overall charge of the team.

But the Zambian coach is far from certain to continue in his post.

Bamfuchile last week told a national newspaper that he had resigned, but he later told reporters he had been ill and did not remember the discussion.

He has returned to Zambia for medical treatment, officials said.

"Bamfuchile will remain in charge as long as health permits, and we hope he will be back two weeks before Ghana," NFA secretary-general Barry Rukoro told BBC Sport.

"Schans will join the Brave Warriors for the training camp in Germany on 10 December."

Bamfuchile said that he was not being treated professionally by the NFA, and is considering his future with the Brave Warriors.
