Arsene Wenger has hinted that 'keen' Alexis Sanchez could still face Tottenham on Saturday despite initially being ruled out with a hamstring injury.
The Chilean missed last week's 5-0 win over Aston Villa and was expected to miss the north London derby, but Wenger told his pre-match press conference that Sanchez was a difficult man to leave out.
"He wants to play, he's so keen," said Wenger.
"[Telling him he’s not playing] is not easy! He wants to play of course. He’s very keen and thinks he can even defy the medical people because he’s so keen.
"I don’t know yet [if he could feature], I need medical advice on that and need as well to see what he can do in training."
Wenger is in the enviable position of not needing Sanchez, who has scored 17 Premier League goals and registered seven assists this season.
"We have enough offensive power. We don't need to worry about being short on that front," said the Frenchman, who played Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil behind Giroud against Villa.
