The group of women parliamentarians of the National Assembly, Wednesday in Luanda, paid a homage to Angola's senior women team of handball for having won the African Cup in January this year here.
The ceremony was chaired by the National Assembly (Parliament) speaker, Roberto de Almeida, flanked by the deputy vice speaker, Fernando Heitor and by the head of the group, Cesaltina MajorThe players were on the occasion awarded pieces of sculpture in wood and an oil on canvas painting for the Angolan Federation of Handball (FAA).The national "Seven" were represented by five players. They are captain Ilda Bengue, Felicidade Sibbo, Teresa Joaquim, Maria Odeth Tavares and Filomena Trindade. Ailing main coach, Gerónimo Neto, was represented by his aides, Albertino de Oliveira and Sebastião Lemos.
Francisco do Nascimento, who lead the national delegation to the African Cup, responded for FAA.
The national team won the African Cup of Handball, after having come ninth in the World Cup of France a month earlier, December last year.
